The mistress of a prominent Texas personal injury lawyer has agreed to plead guilty to solicitation of the capital murder of his wife, in exchange for a 25-year sentence cap, a prosecutor says.

But the expected plea by Michelle Cabrera Gaiser, 37, still leaves a number of loose ends dangling in the ongoing case, in which two men are accused of shooting at Yvonne Stern, who is in her early 50s. She allegedly survived three separate attempts on her life, the Houston Chronicle recounts.

Although attorney and alleged mastermind Jeffrey Stern admitted to an affair with Gaiser and is charged with soliciting the capital murder of his wife, she has been standing by her man and has testified she doesn’t believe he was involved in the claimed plot.
