Some lawyers with wealthy drug defendants housed inside Miami’s Federal Detention Center have reportedly found a way to spice up their clients’ incarceration.

The lawyers are hiring South American pole dancers to pose as paralegals, according to a report in the Miami New Times blog Riptide. The blog report is based on multiple interviews with lawyers.

Defense lawyer Hugo Rodriguez told the blog that the women take off their tops and allow inmates to fondle them. “The majority of these young, very attractive women are noncitizens brought in exclusively for the purposes of visiting the FDC,” he said. “Any lawyer can sign a form and designate a legal assistant. There is no way of verifying it.”

One dancer was reportedly banned from the detention center after she was caught stripping for an inmate on video, lawyers told the blog. Another was caught in a discovery room with an inmate “discovering more than legal documents,” the blog said.

An FDC spokeswoman refused Riptide’s request for comment and refused to provide incident reports on ousters of fake paralegals.

Several publications have noted the Riptide report, including Above the Law, the Huffington Post, USA Today and the New York Daily News. “The hottest strippers in Miami have been strutting their stuff for a captive audience,” the New York Daily News observed.
