A growing Virginia-based midsized law firm has expanded its footprint with the acquisition of an 11-attorney health care boutique.

LeClairRyan has acquired Adelman, Sheff & Smith, which will continue operating in its existing offices, a Tuesday press release announces. Including the Adelman firm’s offices in Annapolis, Md., and Glenwood Springs, Colo., LeClairRyan now has 344 lawyers in 22 offices in 11 states. They include nine in Virginia; two in California; two in Connecticut; two in New York; and additional outposts in Boston, suburban Detroit, Newark, N.J., Philadelphia and Washington, D.C.

“It is a significantly growing area of the law,” chief executive officer David Freinberg of LeClairRyan told the Richmond Times-Dispatch. “This gives us a much deeper bench and also adds a level of expertise that we can leverage to existing LeClair Ryan clients.”
