A veteran child-abuse prosecutor in Brooklyn, N.Y., is the subject of an internal investigation after legal interns complained that she repeatedly raised her voice and even threatened to fire them for little or no reason, reports the New York Daily News in an article that relies in part on unidentified sources.

The newspaper says Assistant District Attorney Ama Dwimoh, 46, was relieved of her duties for two weeks as the investigation proceeds, although she is expected to be at the office on Monday. A 22-year veteran, she heads the office’s crimes-against-children bureau.

The investigation was sparked by complaints from interns are working full-time for the bureau under a special arrangement in which half of their salaries are paid by the private law firms that referred them to work for the prosecutor’s office.

The Daily News article doesn’t include any response from Dwimoh.
