Legally Blonde star Reese Witherspoon was arrested on a disorderly conduct charge after her husband was pulled over for suspected DUI.

The Los Angeles Times and Variety reports that Witherspoon tried to play her celebrity card during the incident in Atlanta early Friday.

The incident reportedly began when Atlanta police stopped Witherspoon’s husband, Hollywood agent James Toth, after observing his vehicle weaving across a double line. During the arrest, Witherspoon is accused of exiting the vehicle and arguing with police.

Quoting from the police report, Variety notes that “Mrs. Witherspoon asked, ‘Do you know my name?’ I answered, ‘No, I don’t need to know your name.’ I then added, ‘right now.’ Mrs. Witherspoon stated, ‘You’re about to find out who I am.’”

Variety added that Witherspoon told the officer, “You are going to be on national news.”

Witherspoon later issued a statement apologizing for her behavior.

“I clearly had one drink too many and I am deeply embarrassed about the things I said,” Witherspoon said in a statement to Entertainment Weekly. “It was definitely a scary situation and I was frightened for my husband, but that is no excuse. I was disrespectful to the officer who was just doing his job. I have nothing but respect for the police and I’m very sorry for my behavior.”

Court appearances are expected Monday for Witherspoon and Toth, who are in Atlanta filming The Good Lie.
