Updated: Lindsay Lohan appeared in court this morning to begin serving a jail term for violating her probation, accompanied by her longtime lawyer Shawn Chapman Holley.

Lohan was cuffed and taken into custody, but there is no video of the event. Judge Marsha Revel of Beverly Hills banned video and photos of the courtroom cuffing, according to the Los Angeles Times blog Ministry of Gossip. Lohan wore dark jeans, a gray top and a black jacket.

The identity of Lohan’s lawyer was the subject of several press reports in the days before the hearing. Holley had earlier resigned from the case, but she never filed a formal motion to that effect, the Associated Press reports.

By some media accounts, on Friday Lohan had hired O.J. Simpson’s “dream team” lawyer Robert Shapiro. By Monday, he was off the case, anonymous sources told the Los Angeles Times blog L.A. Now and TMZ.com.

In court this morning, Holley said Shapiro had been only a consultant on the case, and had never been her lawyer of record, according to CBC and the Ministry of Gossip. After the hearing, Holley told reporters that Lohan had decided she didn’t want Shapiro to represent her, according to the AP account.

Revel had sentenced Lohan to 90 days in jail for violating her probation in two drunken driving cases, but she is likely to serve a fraction of the time.

On Monday evening, Lohan posted a message on Twitter about her upcoming sentence for missing a court hearing and court-ordered alcohol education classes. ”The only ‘bookings’ that I’m familiar with are Disney Films, never thought that I’d be ‘booking’ into jail eeeks,” she wrote.
