What exactly will the first national data analytics chief do during his workday at Littler Mendelson?

It appears that even Zev Eigen and the powerhouse labor and employment boutique may not be entirely sure. The boundaries of the job are wide open, he tells Bloomberg, and Jeremy Roth, the firm’s co-managing director, says he thinks of Eigen as a “super-coordinator of all the data” at Littler.

At the outset, however: “My first order of business is to see what we’re already doing,” Eigen said.

A former Littler associate and senior counsel at Twentieth Century Fox Film Corp., Eigen will work out of the firm’s office in Century City, California. He brings to the job a PhD in behavioral and policy sciences that he earned at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2009.

The firm already uses data to present clients with analytics about their litigation at the firm. It appears that Littler now intends to broaden its focus to analyze data from multiple cases.

“You can harness the data to come up with some predictive analytics either for us or our clients,” Roth said.

As part of his job, Eigen said he will write “thought leadership” pieces about using data to help resolve client issues.
