Loeb & Loeb Lays Off Eight Associates

Loeb & Loeb has confirmed the layoffs of eight associates.

The law firm released a statement that said the lawyers were laid off as part of a "periodic attorney evaluation process and assessment of its overall personnel needs in its various practice areas,” the National Law Journal reports.

The statement said the associates will receive a severance package that varies with their length of service. Loeb & Loeb, with 310 lawyers, says it continues to hire and plans to have more lawyers at the end of the year than it did at the beginning. Its largest office is in New York.

Above the Law ran a report on the layoffs yesterday.

310 lawyers.  Really?  WELL, I am GLAD it is just a “periodic review and assessment” thing, and NOT like needing to cut COSTS as other firms ARE.  I, TOO, hope to end the year (which is NOT over YET) with MORE LAWYERS.  We should ALL aspire to have MORE LAWYERS.
