Luxury Manhattan Apartment Won't Rent to Strauss-Kahn for Home Confinement Stay
Dominique Strauss-Kahn can’t stay at the luxury Upper East Side apartment his wife rented to serve out his house arrest in, the New York Times reports, because the building doesn’t want him.
Strauss-Kahn, the former managing director of the International Monetary Fund and accused of sexually assaulting a maid at the Sofitel New York, was formerly charged and granted bail yesterday. His wife, Anne Sinclair, rented two apartments at the Bristol, located at 210 East 65th St.
According to real estate executives, some apartments at the Bristol rent for $14,000 a month.
“He’s not a convicted felon yet,” Bristol resident Barry Schwartz told the newspaper. “But he’s very high-profile, and it’s upsetting to tenants to have all of that … they just don’t want that.”
After getting dinged by the Bristol, Strauss-Kahn will reportedly be staying at corporate housing used by his security company, Stroz Friedenberg. Strauss-Kahn will be under 24-hour home confinement, and was expected to leave Rikers Island jail today after being held there since last Saturday.
