A Pennsylvania man dodged jury duty 11 times, but the long arm of the law caught up with him when he went to court in Somerset County to contest a child-support ruling.

Faced with the possibility of being sentenced to as much as 10 days in jail and a $500 fine for contempt for each time he failed to show up to do his civic duty, Owen Fazenbaker III, 32, took a plea. He will pay one $500 fine and agreed to cooperate the next time he is summoned for jury service, the Associated Press and the Somerset Daily American (sub. req.) report.

During a Monday hearing, Judge D. Gregory Geary noted the irony implicit in a man who didn’t want to perform jury duty coming to the courthouse when he needed help with his own case.
