Man in Phishing Scheme Claims to Be Calling from Identified Law Firm, BBB Warns Consumers
A Texas law firm focusing on serving the needs of individuals and small businesses has been impersonated by a group of Internet scammers who are trying to trick people into paying them money under the guise of collecting a debt.
Using fictitious names, they purport to be calling from or representing a law firm, seeking to collect on a past-due loan, reports the Killeen Daily Herald.
The local Better Business Bureau is also warning consumers, and the Carlson Law Firm has a scam alert about the phishing scheme posted on its website.
The fake callers reportedly seek to obtain personal information such as bank account and credit card numbers.
