Already serving a life term without parole for murdering his wife’s matrimonial lawyer, a Colorado man had more time added to his sentence last week because of an unsuccessful 2014 escape attempt.

Aric Miera, 40, must serve the three years consecutive to his life term, the Cortez Journal reports.

Miera, who had a history of domestic violence, was convicted of shooting to death Richard Luhman, 62, after forcing his way into the attorney’s Cortez office in 2005.

An earlier Associated Press article provides more details about the 2005 slaying.
