Chairman of Thompson & Knight Dies
Peter Riley, the chairman of Thompson & Knight, has died of complications from cancer at the age of 53.
A message posted to the law firm’s website called Riley “a visionary and great leader who helped transform Thompson & Knight from a regional law firm to an international law firm.”
Riley attended the University of Texas at Austin on a golf scholarship and graduated at the top of his class at Southern Methodist University’s law school, the Dallas Morning News reports.
He became a partner at Thompson & Knight in 1987, six years after he joined the firm. He was named managing partner and chairman of the management committee in 2001 and served through this year.
