Manatt Merges With 45-Lawyer San Francisco Firm
Manatt, Phelps & Phillips is likely to become one of the nation’s top 100 law firms after a merger with San Francisco firm Steefel, Levitt & Weiss.
Manatt’s managing partner, William Quicksilver, told the Recorder that the move is part of the 350-lawyer firm’s strategy to expand in the Bay Area and nationally.
Steefel has more than 45 lawyers in San Francisco and Los Angeles who focus on real-estate finance and business litigation. Manatt opened a small office in San Francisco in August, and the lawyers there will relocate to Steefel’s office space at One Embarcadero Center.
The merger is expected to be completed by Feb. 1, according to a press release.
