A company that makes equipment used to grow marijuana has a couple BigLaw connections.

The public company, GrowLife, is headed by former Jenner & Block partner Sterling Scott, and it has hired Crowell & Moring for regulatory and M&A advice, the Am Law Daily reports.

Several other companies serving the marijuana industry are also seeking legal help from lawyers who have worked in large law firms, the story says. Cannabis Sciences hired a former associate from Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom as its general counsel last year. And Greenberg Traurig has advised MediSwipe.

Scott became CEO of GrowLife after its formation through a merger of two companies. He had been the majority stakeholder in one of the prior companies, SG Technologies, which made lighting to grow marijuana indoors. He views his firm’s hiring of Crowell as the start of a trend.

“I think you’ll start to see more large firms get involved in this arena,” Scott told the Am Law Daily.
