Congratulations to Elena O. Papoulias, the winner of the 2016 ABA Journal/Ross Prize for Legal Short Fiction!

Papoulias, from Centerville, Massachusetts, was among 38 entrants in this year’s short story contest. Her short story “Another Shot” will be awarded a $3,000 cash prize on Sept. 22 at a ceremony at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C.

Papoulias’ story features Tom, a lawyer and ex-Marine who comes to the aid of a veteran struggling with life after combat duty.

The annual short story competition, now in its fourth year, is sponsored by the ABA Journal and is funded by the Erskine Ross Trust. The prize is awarded in conjunction with the annual Harper Lee Prize for Legal Fiction, which is also sponsored by the ABA Journal, along with the University of Alabama School of Law.

The Ross presentation will be part of a ceremony honoring Attica Locke, whose novel, Pleasantville, is receiving the 2016 Harper Lee Prize for Legal Fiction.
