Hollywood’s Matthew McConaughey is set to appear as “The Lincoln Lawyer,” a legal thriller presented by Lakeshore Entertainment.

The movie, based on a 2005 Michael Connolly bestseller, is about “low-level criminal defense attorney Mickey Haller who finds himself representing a wealthy client with ties to a previous murder case Haller handled,” Variety reports.

Scott Steindorff, of Stone Village Pictures, is producing the movie with Lakeshore principals Tom Rosenberg and Gary Lucchesi.

So what’s a “Lincoln Lawyer” a la Hollywood? If you guessed Abe, you’d be way off. According to Connolly’s site promoting his book, Haller is, “a criminal defense attorney who operates out of the back seat of his Lincoln Town Car, traveling between the far-flung courthouses of Los Angeles to defend clients of every kind. Bikers, con artists, drunk drivers, drug dealers — they’re all on Mickey Haller’s client list. For him, the law is rarely about guilt or innocence — it’s about negotiation and manipulation. Sometimes it’s even about justice.”
