Mayer Brown isn’t commenting on rumors of possible layoffs, but it has released a statement saying it is evaluating staffing needs.
Above the Law reported Wednesday on rumors that the law firm is laying off lawyers. The firm issued a statement about the evaluation in response, according to the blog and the National Law Journal.
"Our practice area and geographic diversity has served us well," the firm said in a statement. "A few practice areas, however, have been affected by the slowdown in economic activity. We are conducting a firmwide evaluation of our current and future staffing needs and will have more to say when that process is complete."
