McGuireWoods to Expand Into Texas By Merging With Nickens Litigation Boutique
In a new chapter of an ongoing saga of law firm expansion, McGuireWoods has arranged to plant its flag in Texas.
The firm, which has its historic roots in Richmond, Va., will open an office in Houston in January, by merging with the Nickens Keeton Lawless Farrell & Flack litigation boutique, explains a McGuireWoods press release. Another lawyer, Ron Franklin of Franklin Cardwell & Jones in Houston, will join Nickens Keeton in December, thus becoming part of McGuireWoods with the rest of the firm in January.
“Establishing an office in Texas is a key part of the firm’s strategic plan, as our clients and McGuireWoods Consulting’s clients frequently have needs there,” says chairman Richard Cullen of McGuireWoods in the firm announcement.
“But expansion is never a decision we make lightly. We first wanted to find the right firm to partner with. In Nickens Keeton and Ron Franklin, we not only found a group with incredibly talented lawyers, but one with similar values and culture.”
