A partner at McGuireWoods who is a lecturer at the University of Virginia law school is one of four lawyers nominated for U.S. attorney positions.

Timothy Heaphy is a Richmond partner in McGuireWoods’ government investigations unit, the Richmond Times-Dispatch reports. He was nominated to be U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Virginia. Heaphy was an assistant U.S. attorney in Washington, D.C., from 1994 to 2003 and in the western district from 2003 to 2005.

Heaphy was nominated at the same time as Daniel Bogden, who was one of nine federal prosecutors fired by the Bush administration in 2006. Bogden was nominated for his former job as U.S. attorney for the District of Nevada.

Others nominated were Deborah Gilg for the District of Nebraska and Peter Neronha for the District of Rhode Island, according to a press release. Gilg, a former prosecutor, is president of Gilg, Kruger & Troia in Omaha. Neronha has been an assistant U.S. attorney in Rhode Island for seven years.
