It’s now official, at least as far as the Am Law Daily is concerned: After a merger with a 700-lawyer affiliate in Australia, DLA Piper is now the world’s largest law firm, based on headcount.

The firm now has about 4,200 attorneys on its roster, the legal publication reports.

Its marriage with DLA Phillips Fox came about because “our clients are seeking full service global mandates and demanding increasingly seamless international services,” says DLA Piper’s Asia Pacific managing director, Alastair Da Costa, in a press release. “We have seen increased demand across the region for cross-border projects, deals, corporate expansions and complex legal transactions.”
