Metallica Offers $50K Reward re Woman Slain After Concert, Lead Singer's Video Seeks Public Tips

In a video posted on a website for the FBI and YouTube, the lead singer and guitarist of Metallica asks for the public’s help in finding out who killed a Virginia Tech student after she left one of the heavy metal band’s concerts.
Morgan Harrington, 20, was last seen hitchhiking after a 2009 concert in Charlottesville, Va., reports NPR on The Two-Way blog. Her remains were discovered several months later in a field about 10 miles away.
The band has also offered a $50,000 reward since 2010 for information leading to the arrest of a suspect in the case. The FBI says a DNA profile has linked the unnamed man to a 2005 rape.
“Remember, any information, no matter how small you might think it is, could be that crucial piece investigators need to help solve the case,” James Hetfield says in the video.
