Michael Cohen has reportedly hired a new lawyer to represent him in the investigation by the U.S. attorney’s office in Manhattan.

The new lawyer is Guy Petrillo, the former head of that office’s criminal division, according to anonymous sources who spoke with Vanity Fair, the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal. Petrillo founded the firm of Petrillo Klein & Boxer in 2010 after a second stint at the U.S. attorney’s office.

Anonymous sources tell the Journal that Cohen wants Trump to pay his legal fees.

The Trump campaign has already paid nearly $230,000 to McDermott, Will & Emery for its representation of Cohen in the separate probe of Russian influence, records indicate. And the Trump family has also paid for McDermott’s work in a privilege review of documents seized from Cohen in the New York investigation of Cohen’s business dealings, but the family has not covered Cohen’s full legal fees, sources tell the Journal and the Times.

President Donald Trump said Friday that he has always liked Cohen, but he is no longer his lawyer.
