A Minnesota public defender was taken to the hospital after her 18-year-old client hit her in the face while they were waiting in court for a bail hearing.

Public defender Fay Nosow was struck at least a couple times, according to Hennepin County sheriff's office spokeswoman Lisa Kiava, who spoke to the Minneapolis Star Tribune. Nosow's condition wasn’t known.

Judge David Duffy told the newspaper he was looking at paperwork when he heard Nosow scream, and then he saw her lying on the floor in "quite a pool of blood" with a cut above her eye. Two sheriff’s deputies were able to subdue the client, Dominique C.D. Cook.

Nosow, 58, has been a public defender for 15 years. She was coherent and worried about her child who was due home from school, Duffy said.

Not really. None was set. He is charged now, as an adult, with 3rd degree assault.
