More Attorneys Tweet in Twitterverse

Answering the question ‘What are you doing?’ (in 140 words or less) on a regular basis throughout the day obviously can blur the line between personal and professional life.

But doing so on the Twitter.com social networking website is helping a growing number of attorneys build their law practices, reports Lawyers USA. Attorneys posting such “tweets” on Twitter are credited with helping to drive a massive increase in subscribers this year, from fewer than 300,000 at the end of 2007 to an estimated 3 million-plus by the end of 2008.

The posts give clients a sense of their lawyers’ personal lives, but can also be used to provide legal information or case updates in a conversational tone. It can also help lawyers connect with one another professionally.

“I’ve seen tweets from some lawyer in Idaho who has a case from Kentucky, doesn’t know the state laws here and knows about me through my Twitter network,” says Finis Price, a Louisville lawyer.
