George Zimmerman shot at but not seriously injured in road altercation
George Zimmerman, whose 2013 murder trial over Trayvon Martin’s slaying made international headlines, was taken to the hospital Monday after someone put a bullet hole into the passenger window of the vehicle in which he was riding, WESH and News 13 report. However, Zimmerman, who was struck in the face with glass and other debris, was not seriously injured, according to Lake Mary, Florida, police and his lawyer, Don West.
Police will be interviewing Zimmerman and another man concerned in the incident, Matthew Apperson. The two have been involved in an ongoing dispute, police said, and had a prior altercation in September.
An investigation is ongoing.
In February, the Department of Justice decided in February not to pursue a federal criminal case against Zimmerman in Martin’s slaying.
