More Work for Weil as AIG Mulls a Possible Bankruptcy
Although insurance giant American International Group Inc. may be saved, with federal help, from having to file for bankruptcy, its troubled financial situation has made an already busy law firm known for its work in this area even busier.
“The company has hired the law firm Weil Gotshal & Manges—which is also handling the Lehman Brothers bankruptcy—to draw up bankruptcy papers.,” reports the Dealbook blog of the New York Times.
Meanwhile, five Sullivan & Cromwell partners, including firm chairman H. Rodgin Cohen have been representing AIG in its struggle to say afloat, the Am Law Daily writes.
