Murderer Stands to Inherit $241,000 from Victim
A New York man who murdered his mother-in-law after she caught him trying to burglarize her home now stands to inherit what’s left of the victim’s nearly quarter-million-dollar estate.
But Brandon Palladino, 24, won’t have a chance to spend much of his newfound inheritance anytime soon, according to a report in Monday’s New York Post. He’s serving a 25-year prison sentence for the 2008 murder of his mother-in-law, Dianne Edwards, in her Melville, N.Y., home two years ago.
Palladino, who was married to the victim’s daughter, Deanna Palladino, admitted killing his mother-in-law after she caught him trying to steal jewelry from her home to feed his heroin habit.
Edwards, 59, left her entire estate, then valued at about $431,000, to Deanna, her only daughter, who spent nearly half of the money on Palladino’s defense.
Deanna Palladino died last February, leaving the bulk of her inheritance, about $241,000, to her jailed husband.
Edwards’ sister told the Post she intends to ask the judge who sentenced Palladino to scrap the plea-bargain agreement he made with the defendant unless Palladino agrees to forfeit any claim to Edwards’ estate.
