A New Jersey law firm is planning to close, a move that will cost 289 employees their jobs, according to a layoff notice it filed.

The law firm, Zucker, Goldberg & Ackerman, issued the notice this week, NJBiz reports in a story noted by NJ.com. The Mountainside firm represents banks and mortgage servicers in foreclosure, bankruptcy and eviction cases.

The firm said it is closing because of “current and anticipated profitability insufficient to sustain current operations.”
