A Southern regional powerhouse has planted its flag in New York City.

Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough announced Monday that it has opened a Manhattan office with two partners who focus on real estate and corporate financial matters, reports The State.

With the help of the new office in the Big Apple, the 500-attorney South Carolina-based firm plans to expand its capital markets practice group, which had previously been operated out of Atlanta and Charlotte, in the South as well.

“For the last several years, Nelson Mullins has evaluated potential candidates and groups of lawyers in New York City with the goal to open an office to support our corporate group’s capital markets, private equity, public securities, real estate, mergers and acquisitions, and general corporate practices,” said the firm’s managing partner, James Lehman, in a Nelson Mullins press release. “We look forward to growing our 15th office and enhancing our services to clients.”
