Nev. Judge Faces Discipline Case, Accused of Keeping Jury, Court Staff on Job for Nearly 18 Hours
A discipline case was announced Friday against a Nevada judge, in part because she allegedly kept a jury and court staff working for nearly 18 hours one day to accommodate her personal schedule as a trial neared verdict.
Clark County District Judge Valorie Vega also is accused of recessing court early, on occasion, so she could attend her daughter’s high school soccer games, the Las Vegas Sun reports.
“During my nearly 23 years serving on the bench, I have enjoyed an impeccable reputation,” Vega said in a written statement provided to the newspaper. “I strive to fulfill my job duties in accordance with the Judicial Canons of Ethics.”
