Two online legal companies have announced a partnership that will allow law professionals to track time spent on legal research and attribute it to clients and cases.

The exclusive partnership integrates legal research through the Fastcase database with Clio’s cloud-based practice management tools, according to the Fastcase blog. LawSites by Robert Ambrogi also has the news.

From inside Fastcase, subscribers will be able to select from clients and matters in Clio, start a time clock for the research session, and automatically record the activity, according to the Fastcase blog. Relevant cases can then be saved in Clio under the relevant matter. The same process can also be started from within Clio.

The partnership “streamlines billing, efficiency, and case management into one, unified place,” according to the Fastcase blog. The company bills itself as an affordable research alternative that sorts the best results to the top of the list allows readers to find the most important cases.

The partnership was announced on Monday at the Clio Cloud Conference.
