Meet Bear, the newest worker at the Manhattan District Attorney’s office.

The 4-year-old black Labrador retriever has been on the job for two days in the Big Apple, and is already learning new tricks, according to the New York Daily News and the New York Post.

Taught to salute during a previous assignment working with a military veteran, he is now learning that “tell me a story” is a signal to put his head in the lap of an abuse victim.

“It’s just for the puppy to be able to have contact and emotional interaction with people who really need a soft touch,” DA Cyrus Vance Jr. told the Post. “And some empathy.”

Bear likes chew toys and is staying at Vance’s home in the Upper West Side after the work day concludes, the Daily News notes.
