Employees who sign the required waiver and release can rent a bicycle from Nixon Peabody’s Washington, D.C., office through a program launched in conjunction with Bike to Work Day on May 21.

The managing partner of the D.C. office, Jeffrey Lesk, developed the idea during his own bicycle commutes to work from Alexandria, Va., the Washington Post reports. Lesk has seen bike-sharing programs in cities such as Paris and Barcelona, and he wanted to develop the idea on a smaller scale for his law firm.

The firm has purchased three bikes for the program, and plans to buy more if it is a success.

“It started as an idea to have an alternative for people who are traveling around the city,” Lesk told the newspaper. “But there’s nothing wrong if people wanted to take bikes out at noon and go for a ride.”
