A New Jersey personal injury lawyer and his law firm face charges that they sought insurance payments for a phony car accident.

The indictment accuses Irwin Seligsohn and his West Orange, N.J., firm of conspiring to submit $32,500 in insurance claims for the fake accident, according to New Jersey Lawyer.

Seligsohn and his law firm have previously been charged with two other offenses, the legal newspaper says. An April 2005 indictment accused him of violating a new state law barring the use of runners. A November 2005 indictment alleged he used runners to solicit people to participate in staged accidents to collect insurance.

The trial on those charges is pending.

Seligsohn’s lawyer, Dennis Cipriano, says his client denies improper or fraudulent conduct. “There’s got to be an end to these charges,” he told the newspaper.
