NJ Woman Charged with Manslaughter After Death of Man From Silicone Injection
A New Jersey woman has been charged with manslaughter for allegedly injecting silicone into the penis of a man who subsequently died.
Kasia Rivera, 34, was arrested Friday in the May 6 death of 22-year-old Justin Street, the Associated Press reports.
Street died a day after visiting Rivera at her East Orange home for a so-called penis enhancement procedure, according to Essex County prosecutors. His death was ruled a homicide after the medical examiner’s office determined that he died from a silicone embolism.
Silicone injections are increasingly being used by unlicensed practitioners to enlarge body parts, authorities say.
Rivera, whose bond is set at $75,000, is also charged with the unauthorized practice of medicine.
