A convicted sex offender has been found not guilty by a South Carolina jury of charges that he kidnapped and raped two teenage girls, binding them with duct tape and confining them in an underground bunker at his home in March 2006. Prosecutors also said Kenneth Glenn Hinson expected the 17-year-olds abducted from their bedrooms to die, because they had no air supply. The two allegedly escaped.

However, Hinson, 48, said they made up the story in order to take marijuana from the bunker, and defense lawyer Rick Hoefer focused on inconsistencies in their testimony during his Sunday closing argument, the AP reports. For details of the case as of Sunday, see this article in the State, a South Carolina newspaper.
