It sounds like a plot from a Lisa Reardon novel. But this criminal case isn't fiction, and Reardon, rather than orchestrating the courtroom drama, is the real-life defendant.
The 47-year-old writer is being held in Michigan's Washtenaw County Jail in lieu of $500,000 bail, accused of having shot her father on Aug. 21 in an unsuccessful attempt to murder him, according to the Detroit News.
Her lawyer says in a court filing that Reardon, who has been seeing a psychiatrist for years, had a breakdown shortly before the incident.
If convicted of the charges she is facing of assault with intent to murder and using a firearm to commit a felony, Reardon could be sentenced to as much as a life term in prison.

Life imitates art, but I wonder if her books are art or trash. I haven’t read any of them. Life seems to be imitating trash a lot lately.

I know Lisa and her family. They are anything except trash. If any of you knew the real story, you would never make light of it. Lisa is a good person. Her father is definitely NOT.
