NY Times, Home of ‘Motherlode,’ Sues Over Huffington Post’s New ‘Parentlode’ Blog

Saying that the Huffington Post's new Parentlode blog has a name that readers have confused with the three-year-old Motherlode blog of the New York Times, the newspaper has sued parent company AOL Inc. to force a name change from Parentlode to "something more original."
Both Motherlode and Parentlode have been overseen by Lisa Belkin, who formerly worked for the Times and now works for the Huffington Post, Reuters reports.
Belkin apparently rubbed salt in her former employer's wounds by saying in her first post on Parentlode that the new blog name is more appropriate in an era in which fathers play a significant parenting role, especially for a blog that promotes equality and new paradigms.
The suit was filed on Friday in U.S. District Court in Manhattan. AOL did not immediately respond when contacted by Reuters for comment.
