Some women wear runway fashion to benefits or other gala events. But a 26-year-old criminal defense attorney in Charlotte, N.C., has found a way to incorporate it into her regular workday attire.

Bree Laughrun, whose practice focuses on domestic violence, says she tries to put together an outfit that is "as close to a suit, without wearing a suit, as humanly possible," the Wall Street Journal reports.

One of her favorites is a black Azzedine Alaïa dress. Laughrun pairs it with a boxy Balmain jacket and "simple" leopard heels from Yves Saint Laurent.

The more "outlandish" the outfit, she tells the newspaper, the more it helps her connect with clients, since it gives the two something to talk about initially when they meet for the first time, other than the facts of the case.
