Pennsylvania Supreme Court Justice Joan Orie Melvin and her sister consulted an “angel lady” psychic to determine the outcome of a meeting between their emissary and a prosecutor, according to a search warrant.

Court documents don’t reveal the angel lady’s predictions, but the meeting apparently did not go well, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports. Melvin’s sisters—state Sen. Jane Orie and Janine Orie, a former Melvin aide—were later charged with using state resources for political campaigns. Melvin has not been charged.

The Philadelphia psychic, Carolann Sano, describes herself as a “clairaudient” because she claims to hear whispered advice from angels, according to the Post-Gazette. The revelation prompted two political activists to erect a 15-foot tall angel in front of the Pennsylvania Judicial Center on Tuesday, where they held a news conference urging Melvin to resign, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports.

The activists, Gene Stilp and Dennis Baylor, said they have filed ethics complaints against Melvin with the Judicial Conduct Board. “The people of Pennsylvania want to know their justices of the Supreme Court are not relying on soothsayers and angel whisperers,” Stilp told the Tribune-Review.

Psychics interviewed by the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review for a separate story said it’s common for professional women to seek their advice. Most often they ask about relationships, followed money and careers.
