Pace Law School has announced it is creating a Public Interest Law Center to help meet a growing national demand for lawyers who focus on public interest legal work.
The center is meant to foster a culture of public service, act as a clearinghouse for requests for pro bono legal assistance from community organizations and provide career counseling and internship and employment opportunities for students, the Mid-Hudson News reports.
Pace Interim Dean Michelle Simon announced center's creation in a news release in late February.
The release acknowledges that the ABA has identified a growing demand for public interest lawyers.
Says Simon, “We are excited to have a physical home for such an important part of the legal education and training here at Pace. This will show the world how committed we are to preparing our students for pro bono service and public interest legal work.”

At least someone is filling the niche for public interest lawyers. Not a lot of money here, but at least they’re doing it for the cause. Also good for un-hot women who might otherwise never get any attention from men or other action,. I’m working in the public sector for over 15 years, and believe me, there are few women lawyers worth pursuing. I hope Pace knows they will become a magnet for teh dumpy ones.
