Phila. Traffic Judge Indicted, Accused of Role in Misuse of State Grant Funds by Community Groups
A Philadelphia traffic court judge has been suspended after his indictment, along with other defendants, on charges of playing a role in the misuse of hundreds of thousands of dollars in state grant funds provided to two community groups between 1996 and 2008
Judge Robert Mulgrew, 54, was also accused, along with his wife Elizabeth, 55, of filing false tax returns, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Attorney Angie Halim represents Mulgrew. She says he denies that he has done anything wrong.
The judge was was suspended from the bench Friday. The order (PDF) by the Court of Judicial Discipline says it will later be determined whether to suspend Mulgrew with pay or without pay.
