Pillsbury Winthrop will move some legal work to its back-office operations center in Nashville
Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman is hiring a half dozen lawyers for litigation-support work at its back-office operations center in Nashville.
Pillsbury chairman Jim Rishwain says the hiring of the lawyers, as well as a handful of paralegals and consultants, is “another step in the evolution of our business model,” the Washington Post reports.
At first the lawyers will work on matters such as such as discovery, document review and research, the story says. Later the legal work may include intellectual property, corporate and real-estate matters. Rishwain sees the move as a way to cut costs.
“It was always part of our mind-set that over time we’d move legal services to Nashville,” Rishwain told the newspaper.
Pillsbury Winthrop is among several law-firms that have moved support work to cheaper locations where rents and labor costs are less expensive.
