A police dog on a training exercise found real evidence of a crime on New York’s Long Island last month—the skeletal remains of what turned out to be a young woman’s body.

Two days later remains of three more bodies were found, and now Suffolk County police say they believe a serial killer was responsible for the deaths of all four women, who went missing between 2007 and 2010, reports the New York Times.

All had worked as prostitutes and advertised their services on Craigslist, the newspaper says.

There has been pressure in recent years, following the high-profile prosecution of a medical student accused of murdering a woman he met on Craigslist, to restrict the site’s erotic services ads.

Suspect Philip Markoff brought that case to an early conclusion by commiting suicide prior to trial.
