Polsinelli is expanding to Atlanta with the acquisition of an 11-lawyer firm.

The Kansas-based Polsinelli will acquire Rafuse Hill & Hodges on Jan. 1, report the Kansas City Star, the Atlanta Business Chronicle, the Kansas City Business Journal and a press release. Rafuse Hill’s five partners and six associates have experience in employment matters and complex litigation.

With the addition of the Atlanta lawyers, Polsinelli will have offices in 10 states and 18 cities.

Polsinelli chairman Russ Welch told the Kansas City Business Journal that the firm had opened offices in Dallas and Los Angeles in recent years and decided that “Atlanta was a good market for a firm like ours.”

“We’ve been looking in Atlanta for a few years, and this summer we found the right group, and we’d been working toward this date,” he said. Polsinelli will also be looking for more Atlanta lawyers with experience in the areas of health care, real estate, financial services, life sciences and corporate transactional work.
