Poolside cabanas replace meeting rooms for some businesspeople and lawyers

Poolside cabanas are gaining popularity at resort hotels, and they’re increasingly being used for business meetings.
Hotel executives tell the New York Times there is a growing demand for the cabanas by businesspeople looking for nontraditional settings for their meetings. The story is illustrated with photos of lawyers from an unnamed Miami law firm meeting at the Loews Hotel on Miami Beach. The hotel recently added eight new two-story, air-conditioned cabanas on the pool deck. The lawyers enjoy their breakfast at a table by the pool and then move to a cabana where they continue the meeting.
Too cold to meet by the pool? Lounges and spas are used for year-round business meetings, the story says.
The dress code for such meetings can be tricky, however. Gregory Jenkins, a partner at the event-planning company Bravo Productions, says those calling the meeting need to be clear about acceptable attire. Often a pair of khakis and a summery shirt will work. “But you don’t want to come in beachwear,” he told the Times.
