Pork producers have no sense of humor when it comes to a claim that unicorn is “the other white meat.”

A tongue-in-cheek April 1 online ThinkGeek ad for the fictitious product elicited a cease-and-desist letter from the National Pork Board over the use of its trademarked slogan, as multiple observers, including the Bits blog of the New York Times, have noted.

ThinkGeek says the cease-and-desist letter is its favorite among a number of such missives it has received and says the unicorn meat offer is a protected parody.

The website’s offer states that unicorn meat is “the sparkling, crunchy, savory meat of today’s elite.”
