For the second time this month, a pretrial hearing in a suburban Chicago murder case sparked chaos.

Police said a 22-year-old attendee at a Monday hearing for defendant Christopher Stamps, 16, was jumped on the steps of the Will County Courthouse in Joliet and hospitalized, the Herald-News reports.

Three men are in custody but have not been charged.

Stamps is charged as an adult in the fatal Lockport Township drive-by shooting of 16-year-old Latray Wright last year. Authorities said the two were members of rival factions of the same gang.

After a Jan. 5 hearing in the Stamps case, participants in a hallway shouting match were escorted to separate exits by Will County sheriff’s deputies, the Herald-News reported at the time.

An earlier Joliet Patch article provides more details about the murder case.
