Probe of Whitney Houston's Death Likely to Look at Docs Who Prescribed Drugs to Her, Experts Say
Although it will be weeks before an official cause is established, authorities investigating the weekend death of renowned pop diva Whitney Houston, 48, at the Beverly Hilton Hotel are likely to look at whether medication prescribed by doctors played any role.
She was reportedly found submerged in a bathtub. While there is presently no finding of any excessive level of drugs, legal or illegal, in her system, experts say authorities in a celebrity case like this are likely to talk to her doctors about any medical issues and look at what she was prescribed, according to the L.A. Now blog of the Los Angeles Times.
“No matter what medication they may be taking, until we do a toxicology test and see the levels, we are not going to speculate,” a spokesman for the Los Angeles County coroner’s office told the newspaper.
Meanwhile, although the singer and and actress, who has reportedly battled alcohol and drug issues, didn’t leave as much of an estate as might have been expected for a celebrity who has done as much as Houston did, it is possible that an upswing in sales of her music and a forthcoming movie will up the ante, reports the Associated Press.
Relying on unidentified source information, ABC News reports that Houston, who was divorced with an 18-year-old daughter, had a will. Its provisions are not known.
